| As part of his commercial practice Doug regularly reviews insurance claims for and against clients. Doug has also had occasion to provide opinions to several boards and commissions on property-related issues such as access to premises and the Trespass to Property Act. He continues to act for one of Canada's largest franchising corporations, having done so since 1978, and is responsible for the development of that system from a legal perspective. Doug assumes responsibility for preparation of the firm's newsletter on health law issues. For 30 years Doug has represented franchise corporations, multinational mining corporations and chartered banks in Northwestern Ontario and Central Canada. | |

Community InvolvementDoug has served as a sessional lecturer with Lakehead University's School of Business Administration and lectures regularly on various topics dealing with franchising for the Federal Business Development Bank, Confederation College, and other community groups. In addition Doug is a member of the Port Arthur Rotary Club. Recently, Doug spoke at "Becoming an Investor-Ready Entrepreneur", a presentation by the Northern Ontario Enterprise Gateywayentrepreneur education programin June of 2008. Doug shared his knowledge on topics such as due diligence and how to structure a deal. NOEG has formed angel investor groups in Northern Ontario to facilitate access to equity capital for Northern Ontario businesses. Their web site is available at noeg.ca. | |
