Jordan Lester

Jordan is an associate lawyer with Cheadles LLP. He obtained a Juris Doctor in 2011 from Bond University in Queensland, Australia, and a Bachelor of Journalism Honours in 2006 from the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Prior to joining Cheadles, Jordan articled as a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of Justice - Northwest region. Despite being based in Thunder Bay, he also clerked for the judges of Kenora, Sault Ste. Marie and Parry Sound. As part of his duties, he would do everything from providing legal research to the judges, to editing judgments, to periodic updates on changes in various areas of law. The clerkship exposed Jordan to many different areas of law, while providing for a very unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into the inner-workings of the legal system.

Jordan graduated law school with Division A Honours, receiving the faculty’s High Distinction in both Corporations Law and Business Associations.  In addition to his academic achievements, Jordan was chosen to represent his school at a national Constitutional Law moot in Canberra, ACT.

Before entering the world of law, Jordan spent several years as a reporter for the CBC.  He split his time between the stations in Thunder Bay, Sudbury and Winnipeg. He has filed stories at the regional, provincial and national level, making regular contributions to programs such as World Report, Ontario Today, and The World This Weekend. Jordan also spent time hosting Voyage North, the afternoon show for Northwestern Ontario. Jordan is very active with various not-for-profit organizations in Thunder Bay, and in his spare time he enjoys snowboarding, playing hockey, fishing and watching the Blue Jays.

Jordan has successfully represented clients while appearing before the Ontario Court of Appeal, Divisional Court, Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences Court, Small Claims Court, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Ontario Municipal Board.  His cases have been reported by the Ontario Reports, Canadian Human Rights Reports, Canadian Labour Law Cases, Municipal and Planning Law Reports, Construction Law Reports, Weekly Criminal Bulletins and the All Canada Weekly Summaries.
